Bela Crkva is a city in the southeastern part of the Serbian Autonomous Province of Vojvodina, close to the Romanian border and about 100 kilometers from the capital Belgrade. The city is situated in the plains along the Danube River and has a population of about 10,000, known for its mild continental climate and rich natural resources.
Originally founded in 1717 by the Habsburgs, Belaclava was historically a multi-ethnic settlement and retains a diversity of architecture, including Serbian Orthodox churches and Catholic churches. The name of the city means "white church", which is derived from a local white bell tower from the 18th century. An important cultural event is the "Lake Belaclava Festival", which takes place every summer.
The economy of the region is based on agriculture (viticulture, fruit production) and tourism. The "Beratürkva Group" of seven natural lakes is a popular destination for swimming, fishing and water sports. The nearby spa center is famous for its medical spa and attracts many health tourists. The E70 highway provides easy access to the main cities of Serbia.
