Located in the central part of China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, Chayuzhong Banner (察右中旗) belongs to the city of Ulanqab, and is situated at the northern foothills of the Yinshan Mountain Range, with an average elevation of about 1,500 meters above sea level. It has a total area of about 4,200 square kilometers and a population of about 200,000, mainly Mongolian and Han Chinese. It has a temperate continental climate with four distinct seasons, cold and dry in winter and cool and pleasant in summer.
The economy of Chayuzhong Banner is based on agriculture and animal husbandry, producing potatoes, oats and livestock products. In recent years, the new energy industry (e.g. wind energy) has developed rapidly and become a new pillar of the local economy. The flag is rich in mineral resources, including coal and metal ores. Tourism has great potential, and the Huitengxile Grassland is a well-known attraction, drawing tourists to experience grassland culture and natural scenery.
Chayuzhong Banner retains a strong traditional Mongolian culture, with the Naadam Festival and national songs and dances being featured events. The transportation is convenient, connecting Ulanqab and neighboring cities such as Hohhot by road and railroad, promoting regional economic development and cultural exchanges.
