As an important gateway between Europe and North Africa, the airport has a modern terminal and a 3,600-meter runway that can accommodate a wide range of medium-sized passenger aircraft, including Airbus A320s and Boeing 737s. Its route network covers all major Tunisian cities and direct flights to more than a dozen European destinations such as Paris, Marseille, Berlin, Milan, etc. It is a key transportation node for tourists exploring the sunny beaches of the island of Djerba, the traditional architecture of Berber and the neighboring Salt Lake of Jergis. The airport is well-equipped with duty-free shopping, car rental services and a convenient customs clearance experience, with an average annual passenger throughput of more than 3 million, which plays an important role in promoting the tourism industry in southern Tunisia and the regional economic development.
