Honolulu International Airport (IATA: HNL) is located on the island of Oahu in the U.S. state of Hawaii, and is the main aviation hub for the Hawaiian Islands and an important transit point for the Pacific region. Located approximately 8 kilometers from downtown Honolulu, the airport has four runways and three terminals with an annual capacity of over 20 million passengers.
The airport serves more than 50 airlines from the International Terminal, Interisland Terminal and Diamond Head Terminal. Direct flights cover cities in the Asia-Pacific region, including Tokyo, Seoul and Sydney, as well as major cities on the U.S. mainland, and short-haul flights connect to the islands of the Hawaiian Islands.
The terminal features open-air gardens, Polynesian-themed décor and a Hawaiian music performance area. Travelers can experience a hula welcome and purchase local specialties such as Kona coffee and macadamia nuts. The airport also offers showers, duty-free stores and a variety of dining options, blending modern service with tropical flavors.
The airport is connected to popular areas such as Waikiki Beach by highway, bus and rental car services. A modernization and expansion project is currently underway, with plans to increase gate capacity and smart facilities to enhance the competitiveness of the hub for Pacific routes.
