Located in the northern part of China's Hunan Province, Jinshi is a county-level city under the administration of Changde City, situated in the lower reaches of the river and the western edge of Dongting Lake. As an important node of the Dongting Lake Ecological and Economic Circle, its history can be traced back to the Qin and Han Dynasties, and it has been a major trading town in the river basin since ancient times.
With a total area of about 558 square kilometers, Jinshi has a subtropical monsoon climate, a dense river network, and an agricultural industry dominated by rice and cotton cultivation. The industry is based on food processing (such as Jin City Beef Powder), textile and machinery manufacturing, and it is an important material distribution center in the north of Hunan.
There are historical relics such as Jiashan Scenic Spot and the ancient Datong Temple, and the Jinshi Beef Noodle Making Technique has been listed as a provincial intangible cultural heritage. The "Jin City Beef Noodle Cultural Festival" held every year attracts a large number of tourists and shows the unique local food culture.
Land and water transportation is convenient, with the Erguang Expressway and the river channel running through the whole territory. In recent years, it has focused on the development of the green food industry and the culture and tourism economy, with a GDP of 24.5 billion yuan by 2022, and is actively integrating into the development system of the Yangtze River Economic Belt.
