The Brod Region of Macedonia is an administrative division in the southwestern part of the Republic of North Macedonia, located in the western part of the Pelagonian Basin, on the border with Greece. The administrative center of the district is the city of Brod, Macedonia, which is located about 130 km from the capital city of Skopje. The district covers an area of about 888 square kilometers and has a population of about 15,000, predominantly Macedonian.
The region is situated in the transition zone between the mountains and the basin, crossed by the river Travka, and has fertile agricultural land and forests. The climate belongs to the transition type between continental and Mediterranean climate, with warm and dry summers and mild and rainy winters, which is suitable for agricultural development.
The economy is mainly based on agriculture, producing tobacco, grapes and fruits, and the livestock industry is also relatively developed. In recent years, agricultural products processing and tourism have been gradually developed, and traditional handicraft workshops have been preserved. The Orthodox Church of St. George attracts some cultural tourists.
The region is connected to the major cities of Skopje and Bitola by the E65 highway and to Greece by rail. The region maintains a unique folklore tradition, and each summer hosts traditional music festivals and agricultural fairs that showcase the local culture of western Macedonia.
