About Gevgelija, Macedonia
Gevgelija is an important city in the southeastern part of the Republic of North Macedonia, located in the center of the municipality of Gevgelija, next to the Greek border. Its location is of strategic importance as a transportation hub connecting the north and south of the Balkan Peninsula. The city covers an area of about 317 square kilometers and has a population of about 15,000, predominantly Macedonian.
History and Economic Characteristics
Gevgelija has a long history, with remnants of the Roman period remaining in the neighborhood. The city's economy is based on agriculture and border trade, and it produces grapes, tobacco and other crops.
