Valandovo - a quiet town in the south of North Macedonia
Valandovo is a small town in the south of the Republic of North Macedonia, situated on the banks of the Strumica River, about 150 kilometers from the capital city of Skopje and close to the Greek border. The town has a population of about 10,000 and is known for its warm climate, fertile land and laid-back pace of life. The local economy is based on agriculture and produces excellent wines, figs and tobacco, and the annual "Vallandovo Wine Festival" attracts many tourists. The surrounding natural beauty and proximity to Lake Ohrid and the Beleska Mountains make it an ideal destination for hiking, wine tasting and experiencing the culture of the Balkan countryside. Despite its small size, Vallandovo is an understated jewel in the south of Northern Macedonia, with its simple folklore and unique regional charm.
