Murško Središce is a border town in northwestern Croatia, about 130 kilometers west of the capital city of Zagreb, on the border with Slovenia. The town was formed by the merger of the historic settlements of Murško and Središce, and is administratively part of the Mejmurje County, located at the southern end of the Mejmurje region, along the Drava River.
Located on the edge of the Pannonian Plain, Mursko Središče has a predominantly mild continental climate and is surrounded by a landscape of farmland and hills. With a long history of Hungarian and Habsburg influence, the old town retains 19th-century Austro-Hungarian style architecture, such as the Church of the Holy Cross and traditional houses. The area is predominantly Croatian and retains a unique Mejmurje folklore tradition and handicrafts.
The town's economy is based on agriculture, small-scale manufacturing and cross-border trade, with a gradual development of rural tourism in recent years. Visitors can explore the nature reserve on the banks of the Delaware River, ride the greenway along the river, or visit local wineries. Transportation connects Zagreb to Maribor, Slovenia via the D3 highway, one of the land hubs between Croatia and Central European countries.
