Rodolfo Fernandes is a city in the northeastern Brazilian state of Rio Grande do Norte, located in the interior of the state, about 250 kilometers from the capital city of Natal. Founded in 1963 and named after Rodolfo Fernandes, a prominent local political figure, the city belongs to a semi-arid climate zone with high average annual temperatures and precipitation concentrated in the short rainy season.
The economy is based on agriculture and animal husbandry, with cotton, corn, and beans grown, and cattle and sheep farming developed. In recent years, there has been a gradual growth in small businesses and services, but the industrial base is relatively weak. The population is about 15,000 (according to the latest estimates), and the urban infrastructure is simple, characterized by low-rise buildings and a rural appearance.
Culturally, it retains the traditional festivals and musical forms of northeastern Brazil, such as the Forró. With its slow pace of life and close-knit community, it is the quintessential small town to experience the simplicity of the interior. Due to its remote location, tourism is not yet on a large scale, but it is suitable for tourists who want to explore the region's culture.
