Pigeon Island, St. Lucia is a prominent historical landmark and natural landscape in the northern part of the Caribbean island nation of St. Lucia, not a separate national city. It is connected to the main island by a man-made causeway, and was originally an isolated island, but is now the centerpiece of the Pigeon Island National Landmark, St. Lucia's first national park.
Pigeon Cove has a rich colonial history, having been a stronghold of French pirates in the 18th century and later a British naval base. The island retains 18th century military ruins, including Fort Rodney fort, artillery positions and soldiers' barracks, which bear witness to the history of the British-French colonial rivalry. In 1972, Pigeon Island was connected to the main island through a reclamation project, making it an important cultural tourism destination.
Bic Bay is known for its rugged volcanic landscape, two tranquil beaches (like Pigeon Bay) and lush tropical vegetation. Visitors can hike to the top of Fortress Hill for 360-degree views of the Rodney Bay Marina and the Atlantic Ocean. The famous St. Lucia Jazz Festival is held here every year from late April to early May, attracting music lovers from around the globe. Snorkeling, picnicking and historical exploration are also popular activities.
One of St. Lucia's must-see attractions, Bea Bay blends natural beauty with human history, offering a diverse range of experiences such as hiking, bird-watching, beach relaxation and more, making it an ideal place to experience Caribbean culture and colonial history.
