Korla, the capital of Bayin'guoleng Mongol Autonomous Prefecture in Xinjiang, is located at the southern foot of Tianshan Mountain and the northeastern edge of Tarim Basin, which is the choke point of the ancient Silk Road. This "Pear City" is famous for producing thin-skinned, thin-fleshed, sweet and juicy Korla pears, which are national geographical indications products and the city's brightest business card. As the hub of the South Xinjiang Railway, Korla connects the north and south Xinjiang with the mainland, and has a significant advantage in transportation location. Economically, the city relies on oil and natural gas resources and modern agriculture, while integrating multi-ethnic cultures with a strong Uyghur flavor. Surrounded by Bosten Lake, Tiemen Pass and other natural and humanistic landscapes, Korla is not only a modern city pleasant to live and work in, but also an important gateway for exploring the scenery of Southern Xinjiang.
