Formed by the interception of a tributary of the Arkansas River by the Broken Bow Dam, the lake covers an area of approximately 1,900 hectares and has a shoreline that extends for more than 60 kilometers.
The area around the lake is predominantly hilly and wooded, inhabited by animals such as white-tailed deer and wild turkey, and is a popular location for bird watching and nature photography.
