East Providence is a city in Providence County, Rhode Island, United States, located on the eastern shore of Narragansett Bay, across the river from the state capital, Providence. As the second most populous city in the state, it covers an area of about 26.5 square kilometers and has about 47,000 residents. The city is conveniently located near the I-195 freeway and has the historic Henderson Bridge connecting it to Providence.
East Providence's economy is dominated by retail and healthcare services, and is home to Providence Place, one of the largest shopping centers in New England. The city's landmarks include the Round Church Historic District, a well-preserved collection of 19th century buildings, and trails and parks along the bay, such as Riverside Park, which is popular with locals.
