About Gokseong County, South Korea
Gokseong County is a county in the northeastern part of Jeollanam-do, South Korea, with an area of about 547 square kilometers and a population of about 35,000 people. It is located in a basin surrounded by the Jirisan and Noryeong mountain ranges, and is known for its pristine natural environment and traditional culture.
Natural and Ecological Features
Gokseong-gun is an eco-tourism destination with part of Mt. Jirisan National Park and the upper reaches of the Tojin River, with more than 70% of the area covered by forests.
