Pengxi: Historical and Cultural City in Sichuan, China
Pengxi County is located in the northeastern part of China's Sichuan Province, under the Suining Municipality, and is situated in the hilly area of central Sichuan, with a total area of about 1,250 square kilometers. The region is known for its mild climate and rich agricultural resources, mainly producing crops such as rice, oilseed rape and citrus.
Pengxi has a deep historical and cultural heritage, and is famous as the "Hometown of Calligraphy" and the "Red Cultural Base" in China, where the Pengxi Uprising took place in 1929, marking one of the earliest armed struggles between workers and peasants in Sichuan. In addition, Pengxi is also known for its traditional Sichuan opera and active folk art.
Tourist attractions include Chicheng Lake, the ancient trail of Gaofeng Mountain and the murals of Baofansi Temple, which entice visitors to explore both natural and human landscapes.
